To start the 2015/16 season, J-P and the WDR Sinfonieorchester return to the San Sebastián Festival, with performances of Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem and Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony at the end of August.

Their official season opening concerts at the Kölner Philharmonie feature Leonidas Kavakos playing Dvorak, and, as a mark of the Sibelius year, theLemminkäinen Legends, a programme which they will also bring to the Rheingau Musik Festival and to Dortmund Konzerthaus.

In September, the orchestra will make a stop in Bonn and the Beethovenfest before embarking on a three-week tour to China and South Korea, which includes stops in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Seongnam.

J-P then brings the orchestra back to Salzburg for the third year of their residency at the Festspielhaus – this time their programme includes Stravinsky’s The Firebird and Yefim Bronfman performing Beethoven.

Other programmes to look forward to on the orchestra’s home ground include Ravel’s complete Daphnis and Chloe, Mahler´s Third Symphony, and Sibelius’ 4th Symphony. The season closes with yet more Sibelius: the composer’s Sixth and Seventh symphonies.
