Jukka-Pekka and the WDR Symphony in Cologne and the Baltic with Brahms and Beethoven

27, 28, 30 & 31 March, 1 April

Jukka-Pekka and the WDR Symphony Orchestra perform concerts in the Philharmonie before touring to Warsaw, Vilnius and Tallinn.

The concerts in the Cologne Philharmonie on 27 and 28 March 2014 will include Brahms’ 2nd Symphony and Beethoven’s 4th Symphony, as well as Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2, performed by Anna Vinnitskaya.

Brahms and Rachmaninov will feature on the tour, and the orchestra will perform in Warsaw on 30 March, Vilnius on 31 March, and Tallinn on 1 April.

Jukka-Pekka says, “It’s the first time the WDR Symphony and I are touring in this territory together. It’s important for us to meet new audiences and it’s important for me personally to support links between the countries in this region. Brahms has become a strong part of the orchestra’s identity over the last few years, and it’s where their natural soul and background lies”.

Jukka-Pekka and the WDR Symphony have recently recorded Brahms’ 1st and 3rd symphonies on the Haenssler label, and intend to complete the project with the 2nd and 4th symphonies.
